Publications

Submission Guidelines

The Functional Food Journal (FFJ) encourages authors to submit their original research, reviews, and short communications for publication. Manuscripts should align with the journal’s focus on functional foods, nutraceuticals, and ethnopharmacology of natural products. All submissions must be in English and follow the journal's formatting guidelines, including font size, spacing, and page numbering. Submissions should be made electronically via email to functionalfoodjournal@gmail.com. A cover letter, a declaration of ethical approval, and a conflict-of-interest statement are mandatory. Authors are required to adhere strictly to the FFJ Author Guidelines to avoid delays in the peer-review process.

Editorial Board

The Functional Food Journal (FFJ) is supported by an esteemed editorial board composed of leading researchers in biochemistry, pharmacology, food science, and biomedical sciences. The Editor-in-Chief, Professor G. Oboh, oversees the publication process, ensuring rigorous peer review and adherence to journal standards. The editorial board members are committed to maintaining the journal’s quality and integrity, encouraging innovative research in functional foods and nutraceuticals.

Call for Papers

We invite scholars to submit manuscripts for the special issue dedicated to the 5th Pharma-Food Congress 2023. The special issue focuses on research in functional foods, nutraceuticals, and medicinal plants, emphasizing translational studies for societal impact. Submissions are accepted until April 30, 2024, and must align with the journal's guidelines. Manuscripts exploring bioactive components from edible materials, clinical evaluations, and product development are particularly welcome. This special issue aims to capture research presented during the conference and its contribution to advancements in functional foods and phytomedicine. Manuscript Guidelines

When submitting manuscripts to the Functional Food Journal (FFJ), authors must adhere to the following guidelines to ensure a smooth review and publication process: • Formatting o Use Times New Roman font, size 11, with 1.15 line spacing. o Set margins to 30 mm on all sides of an A4 page. o Number pages consecutively in the lower right corner. • Manuscript Content o Include a title (12-18 words), author names, and institutional affiliations. o Provide a corresponding author’s email and contact details. o Write an abstract of up to 150 words and include up to six keywords. o Organize the manuscript into sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion. o Acknowledge grants and disclose conflicts of interest, if any. • References o Follow APA citation style and include only published works. • Tables and Figures o Embed tables and figures within the text near their first mention. o Use Arabic numerals for labeling and concise captions. • Submission o Submit manuscripts electronically as a single file with embedded figures and tables. o Include a cover letter affirming that the manuscript has not been submitted elsewhere.
